During the reception, both sides highly valued the cooperative relationship between the Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology and the Lao Ministry of Education and Sports. They particularly highlighted the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in 2023, as well as the positive outcomes achieved following the Lao Ministry's working visit to Vietnam in 2025.
The Lao Deputy Prime Minister expressed his sincere gratitude to the Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology for its active support in preparing for the AMMSTI-22, notably through sharing experiences in organizing ASEAN Ministerial-level meetings.
In addition to the contents of the signed MoU, the Lao leader proposed that both sides step up cooperation within the framework of the Viet Nam - Laos Friendship University construction project. He also suggested considering the organization of annual, alternating scientific conferences and seminars between the two countries.
Regarding bilateral cooperation, Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong affirmed that the Ministry of Science and Technology will continue to maintain scholarship programs for Lao students. The ministry will also promote digital transformation programs in education, such as digital universities and digital-based training, while swiftly deploying joint scientific research activities once internal procedures are finalized.
Welcoming the proposals from the Lao side, the Vietnamese Deputy Minister emphasized the vital role of universities in the science, technology, and innovation ecosystem.
Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong stated that the Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology will direct its relevant units to coordinate closely with Lao counterparts to effectively implement these cooperation activities in the coming time./.
