Minister Vu Hai Quan affirmed that the Ministry of Science and Technology stands ready to accompany and support businesses for long-term development. The Minister proposed that both sides strengthen cooperation across four key orientations:

-Collaborating to design training programs and develop high-quality human resources, targeting not only engineers but also managers and research and development (R&D) personnel.

-Connecting Coherent with universities and research institutes to develop training curricula tailored to the enterprise's actual needs.

-Studying the establishment of open laboratories and shared infrastructure to serve businesses in the semiconductor and optoelectronics industries, thereby enabling small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to participate in the supply chain.

-Requesting Coherent to formulate specific proposals regarding its needs for supply chain development, infrastructure, and support policies, which will serve as a basis for the Government to study and refine appropriate mechanisms for the entire industry.

An overview of the working session.

Jeff Place stated that Viet Nam is one of Coherent’s strategic markets, with its local factories ranking among the best performing in terms of productivity and quality within the Group’s global network. Coherent is currently expanding its facilities in Dong Nai Province and VSIP 3 Industrial Park, aiming to bring its production scale in Viet Nam close to that of other strategic markets in Asia.

The Coherent representative also requested the Ministry of Science and Technology’s support in developing high-quality human resources, accelerating the implementation of investment projects, and fostering the formation of a domestic supply chain to help Vietnamese enterprises engage deeper in high-tech manufacturing.

Concluding the meeting, both sides agreed to further enhance coordination in human resource training, semiconductor and optoelectronics ecosystem development, and support for Vietnamese firms to join Coherent’s supply chain. They also pledged to promote cooperation mechanisms aimed at increasing the added value of the high-tech sector in Viet Nam./.
