The two sides discussed major directions for cooperation in the coming time, building on their close coordination in recent years, particularly in artificial intelligence, digital data governance, submarine cable infrastructure and the development of a regional digital ecosystem.
Minister Vu Hai Quan said Viet Nam highly values Singapore's role in advancing ASEAN digital initiatives, including its support for the development and implementation of the ASEAN Digital Masterplan 2030.
He proposed that the two sides focus on three key areas of cooperation.
First, harmonising regulatory frameworks and standards for AI governance in the region.
Second, increasing the exchange of experience in managing and developing open innovation networks.
Third, strengthening cooperation in the development and security of cross-border telecommunications connectivity infrastructure, with a focus on next-generation submarine cable systems.
Minister Vu Hai Quan also proposed that the two ministries establish a ministerial-level exchange mechanism to encourage major telecommunications groups from both countries to accelerate investment in direct, high-capacity submarine cable routes connecting Viet Nam and Singapore.
He said Viet Nam wishes to strengthen exchanges with Singapore in innovation policymaking, startup support, university-based innovation ecosystems and human resource development, as well as in the development of the digital economy and digital enterprises.
