Promoting Viet Nam - US cooperation in strategic technology and artificial intelligence development

<p style="text-align: justify;">On the afternoon of August 3, 2026, in Ha Noi, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Pham Duc Long held a working session with a delegation of US technology businesses led by Mr. Patrick Sweeney, Founder and Chief Executive of American Kestrel Group. </p>

The two sides discussed cooperation opportunities in strategic technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), digital infrastructure, telecommunications, data, and high-quality human resource development.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Pham Duc Long highly appreciated American Kestrel Group for organizing a delegation of businesses operating in various advanced technology sectors. He affirmed that Viet Nam prioritizes the development of science, technology, innovation, digital transformation, digital technology industry, AI, digital infrastructure, and strategic technologies to enhance national competitiveness and drive economic growth.

To foster practical, long-term, and mutually beneficial cooperation between Viet Nam and the US, the Deputy Minister proposed four key focus areas for collaboration:

First, strengthening research, development, technology transfer, testing, and application of new solutions in AI, edge computing, big data, robotics, automation, sensors, and the modernization of digital systems;

Second, encouraging US enterprises to invest and expand cooperation with Vietnamese businesses, research institutes, and universities in research, development, and technology transfer;

Third, promoting connections between technology companies of both countries to develop products, join supply chains, and expand markets;

Fourth, enhancing cooperation in training and developing high-quality human resources in AI, data science, automation, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies.

Mr. Patrick Sweeney expressed the desire to expand investment cooperation, technology transfer, and project development in Viet Nam across AI, telecommunications, energy, defense, security, and advanced technologies, contributing to deepening bilateral relations.

Both sides affirmed that they would maintain connectivity, identify priority cooperation areas, and promote research, technology transfer, investment, product development, and high-quality human resource training in the coming time.
