Ministry of Science and Technology and IAEA promote strategic cooperation on nuclear science and technology
<p style="text-align: justify;">On July 9, 2026, during a working session with Deputy Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Najat Mokhtar, Minister of Science and Technology Vu Hai Quan affirmed that Viet Nam attaches great importance to the development of nuclear science and technology, viewing it as one of the key sectors playing a crucial role in the national energy structure.</p>

Highly appreciating Viet Nam's achievements, Ms. Najat Mokhtar stated that Viet Nam is an exemplary member country in effectively cooperating with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) across various fields, including healthcare, agriculture, environmental monitoring, and radiation safety. The IAEA representative expressed a commitment to standing by and supporting Viet Nam in building professional capacity, building upon the foundation of a sustainable 50-year partnership.

During the meeting, Minister Vu Hai Quan outlined three core priority directions in the action plan between the Ministry of Science and Technology and the IAEA, which include: Training and developing the next generation of leaders and human resources; establishing a system of technical standards and regulations on nuclear safety and security; promoting research activities to gradually master strategic technologies in the nuclear field./.
