Ministry of Science and Technology and Australia foster innovation cooperation towards substantive growth impacts

<p style="text-align: justify;">On the afternoon of June 12, 2026, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Le Xuan Dinh held a working session with Ms. Renée Deschamps, Deputy Ambassador of Australia to Viet Nam, representing the Australian Government and the Aus4Innovation Program.</p>

The meeting aimed to discuss cooperation orientations in science, technology, and innovation, as well as high-quality human resource development.

At the reception, Deputy Minister Le Xuan Dinh officially assumed the role of Co-Chair of the Aus4Innovation Program Steering Committee.

The Deputy Minister highly appreciated the breakthrough results and spillover effects of the program on improving institutions and policies in Viet Nam since 2018.

Overview of the working session

The "Technology Frontier" methodology, applied to measure and quantify the contribution of science, technology, and innovation (STI) to GDP growth, is a practical, scientific product well-suited to Viet Nam's context.

Ms. Renée Deschamps emphasized that since 2018, Aus4Innovation has become one of the flagship cooperation programs between the two countries in the field of science, technology, and innovation. Along with policy support, the program has funded 18 applied projects, contributing to addressing socio-economic challenges and enhancing innovation capacity in Viet Nam.

The two sides also discussed future cooperation orientations, focusing on improving the quality of evidence-based policymaking, developing methodologies to measure the contribution of STI to GDP, and expanding cooperation between the National Agency for Science and Technology Information (NASATI) and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) of Australia.

Deputy Minister Le Xuan Dinh proposed that Aus4Innovation study initiatives to support training for leaders and managers in the context of digital transformation and Artificial Intelligence (AI), contributing to building a high-quality workforce to meet Viet Nam's new development requirements./.
